gitit software package provides Wiki engine backed by a git or darcs filestore, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gitit
gitit is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gitit package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gitit *
You will get with gitit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
